Definition
The reference document number may contain the business partner's document number. But the field may also have a different filling.
Use
The reference document number serves as search criterion when displaying or changing the document. The reference document number replaces the document number in parts of the correspondence output.
Procedure
Enter the number indicated by the partner. In case the document is generated in your company and a document number is not known to the partner, it is possible to copy the document number into the reference number field by entering '*'.
