Documentation
Definition
Possibility of grouping materials, products, and services. On the basis of the division, the system determines the Sales and Distribution areas and business areas, to which a material, a product, or a service is allocated.
Use
A division can, e.g., represent a specific product group. By grouping several products in one division, data become valid for this specific division. You can, e.g., confine price agreements with a customer to a specific division. Moreover, you are able to create sales statistics on division level and launch marketing activities (e.g. a direct mailing campaign).
Example
If a sales organization distributes food and non-food products both through the wholesale and the retail trade, each of the two distribution channels can be subdivided into food and non-food.
