Definition

Type of rule list:

  • Positive list
If a rule is created as a positive list, the permissible entries are stated in this list. In negative terms, the missing of an entry in the positive list means for the check that the system reports an error state. In some rules, however, the positive list is not absolutely applicable because it also contains a limit. A positive list where a limit is set indicates that this entry is permissible up to the specific limit. In that case, the rule formulates an error state when the limit is exceeded. A limit is a variable from 1 to n. Zero is not permitted.
  • Negative list
The negative list can be used to state entries which are not permissible in this particular situation. Consequently, the rule reports an error state when the negative list contains an entry. In this form, the negative list is absolute. In some rules, this absolute form is relaxed by defining a limit. For this purpose, a variable in terms of a limit is assigned to an entry in the negative list. Then an entry is permissible up to the specified limit. A limit is a variable from 1 to n. Zero is not permitted. As a result, an entry with the limit 1 means that 'not a single entry of this form" is permissible.
  • Series list
The series list is a list of check entries. All of these entries have to be valid in the given constellation. If an entry is not valid, the rule recognizes an error state and reports it.
  • Individual list
All list forms that do not belong to those mentioned above.
