Definition

Indicates the customer's liability to pay taxes according to the tax structure in his country.

Use

The tax classification allows you to define, for instance, whether a customer is liable to pay value-added tax or sales tax.

When processing the customer order, the system adopts the tax classification from the tax information in the customer master record

  • of the payer, if the payer deviates from the ordering party and if the payer's VAT registration number is maintained
  • of the ship-to party, if the ship-to party VAT registration number is maintained
  • of the sold-to party, if none of the criteria for payer or ship-to party is fulfilled.

For pricing purpose, the system calculates the relevant taxes on the grounds of the following factors:

  • Tax classification of the customer and the material
  • Country key of the customer and the delivering plant

Note

If you do not want to make use of the logics in the standard system, you can work with the user exit USEREXIT_PRICING_PREPARE_TKOMK. For further information on the user exit, refer to CSP note 21734.
