Definition
The date for which historical market data is interpreted for use in scenarios.
Use
You specify a scenario date if you want the system to use historical market data as current market data.
- If the scenario date is earlier than the current date (that is, the analysis date specified by the application), the system selects the historical market data that was valid on the scenario date specified. This historical market data is made valid for the analysis date specified by the application. You should note that no forward rates are calculated; the market data is made valid as it is.
- If the scenario date is the same as or later than the current date (that is, the analysis date specified by the application), the system reads the market data that is valid on the current date. You should note that no forward rates are calculated; the market data is made valid as it is.
- If you leave the Scenario Date field blank, the system reads the market data that is valid on the current date. The system calculates forward rates between the evaluation date and the horizon date for yield curves and exchange rates.
Note:
The scenario date has no effect on scenario market data that is entered in the scenario tables. This real scenario market data is always made valid without any forward rate calculations for the horizon date.
Alternative:
Instead of specifying a scenario date (absolute time unit), you can enter a relative time unit by means of the Date Interval field.
Dependencies
The use of market data scenarios (for example, a scenario exchange rate) always takes priority over the reading of current or historical market data.
Example
The scenario date enables you to analyze your positions today on the basis of market data that was valid one month ago. You do this by defining a market data scenario where the scenario date is the date one month ago. You then do not need to enter any more data for the scenario.
