Definition
Key that you use for defining exchange rates in the system.
Use
By specifying the exchange rate category, you can define exchange rates in the system for the same date but for different purposes. You can, for example, define rate categories for middle rates, for bid/ask and middle rates, or for middle rates with spreads.
Notes:
- When the system uses the exchange rate category to convert currencies, it does not use the currency conversion that uses the exchange rate type ("CONVERT_TO_LOCAL_CURRENCY" function), which is available across applications.
- Note that the interim results of currency translations converted by the exchange rate category have more decimal places than those converted by the exchange rate type. This means that the results of translations using the same basis currency may differ, even if the exchange rates saved under an exchange rate category and an exchange rate type are identical.
Dependencies
If you also define the exchange rate type in the exchange rate category, the sytem updates the exchange rates supplied in the exchange rate category in the database table TCURR. The TCURR table belongs to the cross-application currency translation.
