Documentation
Definition
The currency key used for translating all rates in the rate category.
Use
If you have to translate between many different currencies, you can simplify this process by specifying a reference currency. In this case, you only have to specify the exchange rates of the currencies in relation to this reference currency within the rate category in question. All currencies are then translated using a two-step calculation where the reference currency plays a pivotal role.
If you want to use this simplified procedure for maintaining exchange rates, enter the key of your reference currency in this field.
Dependencies
Example
Your reference currency is USD. You want to translate 100.00 CHF into EUR.
The exchange rate table has the following entries (rates are quoted indirectly):
From currency To currency Middle rate
EUR USD 0.92000000000
CHF USD 0.62000000000
The following cross rate is simulated from this information:
From currency To currency Middle rate
CHF EUR 0.67391304348
The amount is translated using the cross rate calculated (CHF->EUR), but you should note that, for its internal calculations, the system uses MORE postdecimal places than shown here.
