In this activity you define the reference objects for creating warranty objects.
Use
For every combination of object type (vehicle, equipment, installation, functional location) and subtype for the chosen object type (example: object type vehicle, subtype vehicle model) you can store reference objects, one each for the version level in the warranty claim and one for the item level in this version.
Note: all reference objects currently have the object type equipment.
The reference object on version level can have any number of measurement positions relevant to warranty. The reference object on item level should only have exactly one measurement position relevant to warranty; otherwise the measurement position last created in the reference object is used.
The reference object has two functions:
- It serves as a reference when you manually create object master records with reference to the created measurement positions. It can be used as a complete copy template for equipment and as a reference for the manual creation of the measurement positions for installations and functional locations.
The measurement positions in the reference object and in the object must have the same name if you want use the warranty claim to enter values for the measurement position that are to be linked to the version. The characteristics that are linked to these measuremnt positions can, however, be different. Furthermore, the object can contain further measurement positions; these are then of no importance to warranty processing.
When you copy or create measurement positions, measuring points are automatically created in the object for these measurement positions. You can enter measurement readings for these measuring points later in the warranty claim.
- The reference object is required in the Vehicle Management System for the action CREQ Create Equipment. During this action, the system automatically creates an equipment item with measurement positions and measuring points for the chosen vehicle by copying the reference object.
