In this IMG activity you specify material types that are relevant to waste. You can only use materials of these material types in the Waste Management component, and you will only be able to choose from these materials in the input help for the appropriate fields.
You can also specify explicitly for each waste-relevant material type whether its stock may be posted to inventory management in the scope of disposal processing.
Recommendation
For the following reasons, we recommend that you specify your own material type for wastes:
- Having a separate material type for wastes makes it easier to clearly separate stock quantities for wastes and other materials.
- If you use the Purchasing component, on-order stock is built up. However, a material is not ordered for wastes, but rather the disposal service. Having a separate material type for wastes makes it easier to clearly separate these on-order stocks.
- No calculation of value is possible for wastes. Having a separate material type for wastes also makes it easier to distinguish wastes from other materials.
Activities
- Call the IMG activity.
- Check whether at least one waste-relevant material type exists, or in other words, whether the table contains at least one material type. Specify other waste-relevant material types if required.
- Set the InvMgtActv indicator for the material types whose stock may be posted to inventory management in the scope of disposal processing.
- Save your entries.
Further notes
To be able to use inventory management for wastes in Waste Management, you must make the following settings in Customizing for Waste Management:
- You must have set the InvMgtActv indicator in this IMG activity for the waste-relevant material type for the waste.
- You must have set the Inv. mgmt actv indicator for the relevant document categories in the IMG activity Specify Document Categories because only then are the fields available for entries in Waste Management disposal processing that are necessary for inventory management.
Also make the appropriate settings that are necessary for the material type in Customizing for other components.
