A waste management business partner can be described using roles and partner types. A partner can assume a number of roles; per role, the partner can be described in more detail by a partner type.

In this IMG activity, you define these partner types and specify which role can be described more exactly by which partner type.

Example

The role waste generator could be described more exactly by one of the following partner types:

  • Generator number assigned by the authority

Under a waste management business partner of this partner type, you can store the data in the system that is required from the point of view of an authority for a waste generator for whom the authority has assigned a generator number. For example, you can enter the data that must be output on the prescribed disposal documents for the waste generator with the generator number.

  • Internal point of generation

Authorities frequently assign generator numbers for a whole plant. If, for example, you want to enter data in more detail for a more fairer distribution of the costs among the departments in a plant that generate waste, you can create waste management business partners of the partner type internal point of generation for each individual point of generation in the plant. You can then arrange these waste management business partners hierarchically in the master data of the Waste Management component beneath the waste management business partner you created for the plant.

For more information on the effects of this hierarchical arrangement, see the Dependencies section under Higher-Level Waste Management Business Partner and the Application help.

The role waste disposer could be described more exactly by one of the following partner types:

  • External disposer
  • External disposal facility
  • Internal disposal facility

Standard settings

Default settings are delivered. You must not change these settings but you can add partner types.

Activities

  1. Call the IMG activity.
  2. Specify all partner types that are to be described in more detail by the roles of the waste management business partners.
  3. Assign each partner type to the roles of the waste management business partners as follows:
    1. Select the partner type.
    2. Choose Partner Types per Role.
    3. Enter the roles for the waste management business partners that are to be described by the partner type.

Further notes

In the IMG activity Specify Field Attributes per Partner Type, you can specify for each partner type the fields in data entry that

  • Require an entry (required entry)
  • Are ready for input (optional entry)
  • Are displayed (display)
  • Are hidden (hide)

This means you can ensure that for waste management business partners that belong to a particular partner type, the exact data required for this partner type is entered.
