In this step you create number ranges for the assortments or change existing settings (number range object: WSORTIMENT).

A number is determined either externally or internally (by the SAP system) for each assortment.
Assortment numbers are unique, as each number is only assigned once.

Example

Requirements

Standard settings

Four number ranges are available in the standard system: number ranges 01 and 02 represent an internal interval and number ranges 02 and 03 external intervals.

It is advisable to use the same number range for a retail plant and the assortment that was created automatically when the retail plant was created. Although it is technically possible to assign any number to an assortment, the number you assign should be identical with the customer number of the retail plant, simply to avoid confusion later.

Number range 01 must always be present. It is possible to change the preset interval values of all the intervals, however.

 Number range from to I/E
  -------------------------------------------------------------------
  01 0000000001 0000099999 I
  02 0000100000 0000299999 I
  XX A ZZZZZZZZZZ I

Recommendation

Activities

  1. Check whether the standard settings meet your requirements.
  2. If necessary, specify new number ranges according to your requirements.
  3. Maintain number intervals for the number range groups created.

Ensure that the number intervals do not overlap with other groups.
