In this step, you define
- the average price and
- the valid price range
for every price band in retail prices including tax.
You define these on the basis of the
- Sales organization
- Distribution channel
- Material group
- Season category
In addition, you can specify the price band even further using the two characteristics.
The characteristics are any characteristics of an information structure for whose attributes average prices can be stored.
They can be maintained in the following step Characteristics Fields per Information Structure for Price Band Categories.
Because the price is likely to change over time, you can specify the end of the validity period for each record.
The start of the validity period is implied by the end of the validity period of an earlier record.

Your system is configured as an SAP Retail System.
Further notes
If a planning type for an information structure contains the average price band price as a key figure, the corresponding prices are then imported into the planning screen for all members during planning.
The values at totals level are the result of aggregation.
A requirement for this is an information structure which contains the following characteristics:
- Sales organization,
- Distribution channel,
- Material group and
- Price band category
If characteristics are missing, they must be maintained here using a ' ' for each key field.
The prices are imported for each period.
for this the system determines the nearest record with an end of validity date after or the same as the period-end.
The price band prices are displayed in the planning currency.
