Use
You use this Customizing activity to configure the search and display parameters for the different applications and logon clients of the Enhanced Material Search function.
Requirements
Search and Display Parameters
Within the Sales and Distribution -> Basic Functions -> Configure and Activate Enhanced Search with Creation Customizing activity, the Material Search and Catalog Search options share the same user interface to display the search criteria (configured as Search Parameters) and result attributes (configured as Display Parameters).
To improve usability, values for result attributes are ignored if the search attribute is not supported by the business object of the search engine.
Standard settings
Activities
Select an application for which you want to maintain the Enhanced Material Search settings, then select Search Parameters (to define the search input fields) or Display Parameters (to define the columns that you want to see in the search results).
Search Parameters
For search parameters you can define:
- The search input fields that are available to the user
- The classification
- The order in which the fields are displayed within the same classification
You can set fields to appear on either the primary or secondary part of the group of search criteria. For ease of use, you can place frequently-used search attributes at the top of the primary search section, and assign rarely-used search attributes to the secondary search section.
Removing a search parameter from the list will remove the search criteria from the user interface, making it unavailable for searches. Note that some search fields, such as Free Text Search and Fuzzy Search, are fixed and can neither be hidden nor moved.
Display Parameters
Display parameters define the search results fields that appear in the search results list and the order the fields are displayed. For some fields the description, unit or currency is shown in addition.
If no display attributes are defined, an error message indicates that no display parameters are maintained in Customizing.
