Define Object Types for Data Transfer

Use

In this customizing activity, you define object types that can be used in the Export Master Data, Import Master Data, and Convert Master Data applications. You can also configure the following settings here:

  • The message data type, import class, and converter class (which provides the logic for import or conversion for a given object type). These settings include indicators that show if import or conversion of a given message data type is active in the system.
  • The additional selection fields to be shown on the variant screen for the selected object type
  • The import sequence, if an object has one or more dependent objects
  • The business activities for the object types

To appear on the UIs for Import Master Data and Convert Master Data, object types must be included in this Customizing activity and marked as active for import or conversion.

For the Export Master Data application, you normally define the fields to be shown on the variant screen as part of the implementation of the BAdI, BADI_MDG_EXTR. You can now also define these fields in the Additional Selection Fields view of this customizing activity.

Requirements

  • If you want to import or convert objects, you must extend these classes for the relevant object types:

  • CL_MDG_FILELOADER (for object-specific implementation of Import Master Data)
  • CL_MDG_TRANSFORMER (for object-specific implementation of Convert Master Data)

  • Each object type used in Data Transfer must have a corresponding Business Object Type Code defined in the database table MDGI_OTC_BS.
