Settings for WebDocuments (BSP)

In this activity you make the additional settings for the document type that you want to edit with the functions of WebDocuments. Functions are grouped together under the term WebDocuments, with which you can edit document info records as well as the original application files assigned to them in the Web interface.

  • You only enter data that controls the editing in the Web interface.
  • The technological basis for the processing of documents in the Web interface is the Business Server Page (BSP) and the MIME Objects of the Web Application Builder.

Note

In the Web interface, you can also display originals for a document info record (DIR) by choosing Display Thumbnail. The system takes all the workstation applications defined in Customizing for document management into account for display.

  • If you define a sequence for the workstation applications (under Define Workstation Application for Thumbnails (Images)) in Customizing for document management for a document type, the system proceeds as follows:
    • The workstation applications defined in Customizing for WebDocuments are used to display originals for a DIR as thumbnails.
    • The system compares the workstation applications from Customizing for WebDocuments with those from document management (Define Workstation Application for Thumbnails (Images) and only takes into account the workstation applications for which you have defined a sequence.
      • The sequence of workstation applications from Customizing for document management for a document type (under Define Workstation Applications for Thumbnails (Images)) determines the sequence of workstation applications with which the originals are displayed. In other words, if the first workstation application is not available, the second in the sequence is used to display originals for a DIR, and so on.
  • If you have not prioritized the workstation applications (under Define Workstation Application for Thumbnails (Images)) in Customizing for document management for a document type, the system selects a random workstation application from the list you created.

Requirements

You made the following settings in the IMG for Document Management:

  • Maintain Control Data
    These activities are obligatory; Maintain Document Type.
  • Maintain General Data

    The following activities are obligatory:

    • Maintain data carrier and workstation application
    • Maintain settings for storage system

      The following activities are optional:

    • Start Processing for Documents
      • This activity is only necessary if you want to start enterprise- specific processes from the result screen for the document search. Using the Profile ensures that a user gets a choice of processes that is relevant to their job.
    • Define Profile
      • In this activity you can store default values for the processing of original application files.
      If you have defined editing processes for documents in your enterprise, you need to assign a profile. The execution for different user groups is controlled in this way.
