Use
You use this Customizing activity when technical restrictions force you to map code values for a particular global data type to a system-specific code list. This approach differs from the recommended approach of using a global code list.
You must use a separate code list for a target system if any of the following conditions exist:
- You are using Application Link Enabling (ALE) communications
- The target system is not able to implement value mapping
You must configure value mapping on the Master Data Governance hub and then map directly from the values on the system-specific code list to values on the hub.
When you enter the name of the global data type, the value help lists all global data types maintained in the Maintain Value Mapping activity.
Requirements
The target system uses Application Link Enabling (ALE) communications or the target system does not support value mapping. SAP target systems in releases EHP4 and below and non-SAP target systems only support value mapping with the help of Process Integration (PI) tools or other middleware tools.
