Use

You can use this Customizing activity to define applications according to customer-specific needs. Your specified applications are the basis for further Customizing activities within the Shared Services Framework.

Requirements

Connecting an application into the Shared Services Framework might also require implementation and integration into existing application programs.

Standard settings

Delivered applications are already preconfigured and can be activated for service request creation.

Activities

Example

Delivered applications like Financials, Biller Direct, Controlling, or Travel are technically enabled for service request creation in their respective activities (transactions, programs, and user interfaces):

  • The system enables users to create service requests from the activities of these applications, for example, as follows:
    • By implementation in SAP GUI transactions to activate the menu entry Help -> Service Request or the respective link in the error message text appearing in the status line
    • By offering a function button on the user interface for the creation of a service request
    • By providing the application specific context that shall be used as source for the determination of the service request attributes
    • By implementing and integrating program code for automatic service request creation
  • In Customizing, application-specific source fields are available to maintain the mapping for the derivation of service request attributes. This requires the implementation of BAdI: Set Source Field Values.
  • Some applications offer reporting listing of service requests created in this application with details about the reason for the creation (for example: error message).
