Determine Form Update Method
Verwendung
In this step, you configure the feature P08UP which controls the infotype update process.
Feature P08UP is used to determine if the data contained on an incoming form is updated directly to the infotype or whether this form data must first be checked by a personnel administrator before the infotype record is updated.
The process is as follows. On the polling program (RPUEFI_START_POLL) selection screen, you must specify the tax office number and reference to be polled to, as well as the the particular forms to be retrieved. This feature can be used to determine per tax office number, tax office reference and form whether an immediate update to the infotype may be performed or whether the update must be performed from the Update Manager manually.
Records where an update to the infotype is attempted but fails because of an error will remain in the worklist of the Update Manager.
Consideration of whether a form should be updated immediately or only after being checked by a personnel administrator is a decision for each individual organisation. In making this decision, you should be taken into account the following factors:
- Whether it is really necessary to check every form, since data checks and Business Add-Ins (BAdIs) can catch error situations.
- The expected size of incoming files
Depending on the size of your organisation, the number of P9 forms may be very large. The processing of these forms is better handled by a direct update. In particular, with very large files, an update in the foreground may encounter processing timeout problems.

The fields that can used for decisions are:
- Tax Office Reference
- Tax Office Number
- Form Type
Note: If you wish to make a decision on all three fields ie Tax office reference -> Tax office Number -> Form Type you must make use of the sub feature P08U1 to make the decision on the form.
Beispiel
If you wish to allow only P9 forms to be updated automatically in your SAP system for all PAYE references, then
- In feature P08UP, make a decision on the form.
- Select 'P9' and return value "X".
- Otherwise, return value " ".
