In this step, you set up program RFCCOM on the application server (in the following, the RFCCOM server) that is later to create the Excel sheets.

Prerequisite

You have to have installed program RFCCOM from the SAP GUI CD on the RFCCOM server.

The operating system must be Windows NT 4.0 or a later release.

Procedure

  1. Start programm RFCCOM.EXE with the Windows Explorer.

The program appears as a blue symbol in the Windows task list.

  2. Click with the right mouse key on the symbol in the Windows task list and choose 'Configure'.

The 'RFCCOM Configuration' dialog screen appears.

  3. Choose 'Add gateway'.

The 'Add gateway' dialog screen appears.

  4. In the 'Description' field enter a description (such as RFCCOM_TRV).
  5. In the 'Host' field enter the gateway host for your SAP system.

    Note

Instead of the IP address, use the name of the gateway host (for example, 'gateway.mydomain.com' instead of '123.123.123.123').

  6. In the 'Service' field enter the service number (the two-place system number of the SAP system).
  7. Check to see if the IP address of the RFCCOM server is entered in the RFCCOM field.
  8. Choose the 'Add' function and, in the entry field of the 'RFCCOM Configure, Add dll' dialog box, enter the value 'Sapawrfc.dll'. Then choose the 'Add' fundtion to close the dialog box.
  9. Confirm your entries by choosing the 'OK' function.

The 'RFCCOM Configuration' dialog screen again appears.

  10. Choose the new gateway and choose the 'Connect' function from the dialog screen.
  11. Close the 'RFCCOM Configuration' dialog box.
  12. With the right mouse key, click again on the RFCCOM symbol in the Windows task list and choose 'Properties'.
  13. Check the settings for 'Trace' and 'Reconnection'.

    Note

You should especially check the settings for restoring the connection (Reconnection).

If you choose the 'Never' option, you have to restart the SAP Gateway connection manually if it is broken off.

If you choose the 'Continually' option, program RFCCOM tries to restore the SAP Gateway connection continually, even if it is not available.

The most practical options are 'Every hour' oder 'Once a day'.

  14. Confirm your settings by choosing the 'OK' function.

Result

You have set up program RFCCOM and the connection with the gateway server of your SAP system.
