In this IMG activity, you create rule modules. In rule modules, you combine rule elements such as validations and substitutions. In a subsequent IMG activity, you can assign the rule modules to rule containers.
Standard settings
The standard system does not contain any rule modules.
Activities
You set up a rule module in three steps:
- Define rule module
Enter an eight-digit numeric key and a description for each rule module.
- Describe rule module
For each module, enter a description that explains its content and function.
- Assign rule elements
Assign the rule module the rule elements you want the system to process when the rule module is called. If the rule elements are validations, you can combine them with AND and OR operators.
Example
When a student applies for admission, you want the system to check if the following prerequisites are fulfiled. These prerequisites are checked by rule elements:
- Prerequisite knowledge in Algebra (rule element ZU_MA1)
- Prerequisite knowledge in Geometry (rule element ZU_MA2)
- Prerequisite knowledge in Mathematics based on a test (rule element ZU_MAT)
The rule elements are all validations. To map the prerequisites in the system, you combine the following entries:
Rule module OP Rule type R.element CP Combinat. Sort seq.
Admission ( Validation ZU_MA1 AND 10
Admission Validation ZU_MA2 ) OR 20
Admission Validation ZU_MAT 30
In the first two steps, the system checks if the student has the prerequisite knowledge in Algebra and Geometry. You map this check in the system by placing the two rule elements in parentheses and combining them with the AND operator. Alternatively, the system checks if the student has taken the Mathematics test. You map this check in the system by combining the first two steps and the third step with the OR operator.
