This IMG activity explains how to summarize wage types.

Individual wage types can be split in the payroll results, e.g. when an employee's salary is changed during the payroll period. If you want to print a wage type (that was split in the payroll results) on the remuneration statement without the split, you must summarize it. Upon summarization, the wage type splits are suppressed for the period in which the system creates the remuneration statement.

Next, you describe the summarization in greater detail with regard to the following points:

  • 1 Display options
  • 2 Link to IMG activity "Define wage types in window"
  • 3 General summarization procedure
  • 4 Summarization of a wage type split more than once
  • 5 Multiple entries for the same wage type

If you require a list of the abbreviations used in the examples, see point 6 "Abbreviations used" at the end of this IMG activity.

1    Display options

You can only print a summarized wage type inside a window. The name of the summarized wage type (e.g., "Standard pay") cannot be changed for printing. This means that the wage type is always printed with the same name as the one used in the payroll results.

2    Link to IMG activity "Define wage types in window"

Take into account that a wage type must be assigned to a window, group, subgroup, line type, and column type for summarization. You can find instructions on how to do this in the IMG activity "Define wage types in window". This activity also describes how to determine the table name for a wage type specified in the examples. For the sake of clarity, we have refrained from repeating the same information in this activity.

3    General summarization procedure

A wage type split is suppressed by way of the DSplit (delete split) field. There are various indicators available for this field, selected on the basis of the type of wage type split concerned. For example, a work center/basic pay split can only be suppressed using indicator "A" (work center/basic pay) or the placeholder "*" (all indicators). The placeholder "*" suppresses all the existing splits for a wage type.

To display a list of all indicators, select the Help function for the DSplit field.

Example:

In the payroll results (table "RT", table indicator "R"), the monthly value (total amount) of the "Standard pay" wage type (MA10) has a Cost accounting split ("KR") that includes several time specifications. These specifications are identified by two-digit numbers in split column "KR":

    KR    Total amount

MA10    01    1,100.00

MA10    02    2,200.00

To summarize the wage type, enter the following:

WType    Tab    No    ...    DSplit    ...

MA10    RT            K

In this example, the wage type split is suppressed using indicator "K" (cost distribution).

The wage type is then printed on the remuneration statement as follows:

MA10    Standard pay    3,300.00

4    Summarization of a wage type split more than once

If wage types have been split more than once, the splits are suppressed by listing the indicators (e.g. "AK" if there is a work center/basic pay split "A" and a cost accounting split "K"), or by using the placeholder "*" which suppresses all indicators.

The order in which the indicators are listed is not important.

When wage types are summarized that have been split more than once, a distinction is made between the following variants:

Variant A:

In variant A, the following wage type fields are added:

  • Amount (BETRG)
  • Rate (BETPE)
  • Number (ANZHL)

Once the splits have been removed for the wage type in question, the named fields are added together.

Example for variant A:

In the payroll results (table "RT", table name "R"), the monthly value (total amount) of the "standard pay" wage type (MA10) has a cost accounting split ("KR") and work center/basic pay split ("WP"). Both these splits cover several time specifications. These specifications are identified by two-digit numbers in split columns "KR" and "WP":

KR    WP    BETRG        BETPE    BETPC    ANZHL

MA10    01    01    1,000.-    500.-    empty    2

MA10    02    01    500.-    500.-    empty    1

MA10    02    02    700.-    350.-    empty    2

MA10    03    02    1,100.-    1,100.-    empty    1

To summarize the wage type, enter the following:

WType    Tab    No    ...    DSplit    ...

MA10    RT            KA

In this example, the wage type split is suppressed using the indicators "K" (cost distribution) and "A" (work center/basic pay).

The wage type (field BETRG) is printed on the remuneration statement as follows:

        BETRG

MA10    Standard pay    3,300.00

Once the splits have been removed, fields BETPE and BETPC contain no values of any business relevance and for this reason they should not be printed. If you were to print them, the wage type would appear as follows:

        BETRG     BETPE     BETPC    ANZHL

MA10    Standard pay    3,300.-    2,450.-    empty     6

Variant B:

In variant B, the following wage type fields are added:

  • Amount (BETRG)
  • Number (ANZHL)

Once the splits have been removed for the wage type in question, wage types are only added together if they have the same value in field BETPE.

The Rate field (BETPE) is not added.

To ensure that the Rate field is not summarized (added), proceed as follows:

  • A "=" sign must be set in the SSPLT field for all wage types.

Example for variant B:

In the payroll results (table "RT", table name "R"), the monthly value (total amount) of the "standard pay" wage type (MA10) has a cost accounting split ("KR") and work center/basic pay split ("WP"). Both splits cover several time specifications. These specifications are indicated by two-digit numbers in split columns "KR" and "WP":

KR    WP    BETRG        BETPE    BETPC    ANZHL

MA10    01    01    1,000.-    500.-    empty    2

MA10    02    01    500.-    500.-    empty    1

MA10    02    02    700.-    350.-    empty    2

MA10    03    02    1,100.-    1.100.-    empty    1

To summarize the wage type, enter the following:

WType    Tab    No    ...    DSplit    ...    SSPLT...

MA10     R             KA         =

In this example, the wage type split is suppressed using the indicators "K" (cost distribution) and "A" (work center/basic pay). The wage type is then printed on the remuneration statement as follows:

        BETRG     BETPE     BETPC     ANZHL

MA10    Standard pay    1,500.-    1,000.-    500.-    3

MA10    Standard pay    700.-    350.-    350.-    2

MA10    Standard pay    1,100.-    1,100.-    1,100.-    1

The BETPE field should not be printed on the remuneration statement. Use field BETPC, which contains the correct value.

5    Multiple entries for the same wage type

If there is more than one entry with the same wage type and table name, each of these entries must be assigned a number to identify them (e.g. "00", "01", "02" etc.).

There might be several entries with the same wage type and table name in cases such as the following:

  • A wage type is assigned to a window in which it must be printed in summarized form and which is cumulated in one or several cumulation wage types.

  • A wage type is assigned to a window and also cumulated in one or sev
