Use
In this IMG activity, you define resource types and resource element types.
Example
Requirements
- You have already assigned sites to WM warehouses in Customizing for Logistics Execution -> Warehouse Management -> Interfaces -> Task & Resource Management -> Assign Site.
- You have already defined the following:
- The site in Customizing for Task and Resource Management -> Master Data -> General Settings for TRM
- Levels in Customizing for Task and Resource Management -> Master Data -> Site Map Management -> Define Levels
- Working areas in Customizing for Task and Resource Management -> Master Data -> Site Map Management -> Define Working Areas
- Handling unit/storage unit types in Customizing for Logistics Execution -> Warehouse Management -> Master Data -> Material -> Define Storage Unit Types
Standard settings
Recommendation
We recommend that you create different resource types based solely on the following:
- Velocity
For each type of device with a new horizontal or vertical velocity, create a new resource type.
- Levels
Create new resource types for types of workers or devices with differing levels qualifications.
- Capacity
Create new resource types for types of workers or devices with differing capacities (quantities and types of handling units that can be carried at any one time).
- Route exceptions (see IMG activity Define Route Exceptions). Create a new resource type if:
- A route needs to be disabled for a type of worker or device; or
- The distance of a route needs to be changed due to some characteristic of a type of worker or device
With regard to workers or devices with varying handling unit type and working area qualifications only, we recommend that you create the one resource type and change the qualifications for each worker or device resource element.
The more resource types created, the slower the performance of the system, due to the need for more entries in table LROUT.
Activities
- Define Resource Element Types.
- Define Resource Types.
- Define the Resource Type Components for each resource type.
- Assign level, working area and handling unit type qualifications to each resource type.
- Assign capacities to each resource type, in terms of the quantities of handling unit types that each resource type can carry at one time.
Further notes
For information on defining resource elements, as well as determining priorities for level, working area and handling unit type qualifications, see the SAP Library for TRM (Logistics -> Logistics Execution -> Task & Resource Management) .
