Use

In this IMG activity, you have the option of defining the vehicle types for forwarding agents, including:

  • The default vehicle type of a forwarding agent. The vehicle type set as the default vehicle type of a forwarding agent is used by the system as follows:
    • When you manually create a vehicle and enter the forwarding agent in the relevant field, the system automatically populates the Vehicle Type field with the default value.
    • When you create a check-in activity for a shipment specifying the forwarding agent, the system automatically creates and assigns to this shipment a vehicle of the default vehicle type.
  • The waiting time for each of the vehicle types. When you attempt to assign a vehicle to a document via the yard monitor, the system displays the possible vehicles, sorted in ascending order, according to the vehicle's waiting time, which is determined from its vehicle type.
    In addition, you could define your own alert, based on vehicle waiting times exceeding the values entered in this activity, for the alert monitor. For more information, see the SAP Library for Logistics Execution -> Yard Management.

Requirements

You have defined the following:

  • Packaging materials in the material master (transaction MM01)
  • Yards in IMG activity Define Yard
  • An account group for forwarding agents in Customizing for Logistics - General -> Business Partner -> Vendor -> Control -> Define Account Groups and Field Selection (Vendor)
  • Forwarding agents (including their assignment to the relevant account group) in the vendor master record

Standard settings

Activities

For each of your forwarding agents, do the following:

  1. Enter the yard number.
  2. Enter the name of the forwarding agent. You can search for all forwarding agents by entering the account group as search criteria.
  3. Enter the vehicle types.
  4. If you want a vehicle type to be used as the default for the forwarding agent, select Default.
  5. Enter the vehicle waiting time (expressed in terms of the time UoM defined in IMG activity Define Yard).
