Use

In this IMG activity, you can define the following:

  • Physical types of locations
  • Relationship between each physical location type and vehicle type groups

By defining a relationship between a specific location type and vehicle type groups, you are able to influence location determination and scheduling in the following way: When you manually create a yard activity for a vehicle belonging to a vehicle type group, the system does not allow the activity to be created to a destination location if the capacity of the location has been reached.

The capacity of a location is determined as follows:

  • If you do not assign a physical location type to a location in IMG activities Define Doors, Define Staging Areas or Define Yard Locations, the location can hold one vehicle of any vehicle type group at any one time.
  • If you define a physical location type, as well as a location type - vehicle type group relationship, and then you assign the physical location type to locations, these locations can hold vehicles of the specified vehicle type groups, in the defined combinations and quantities, at any one time.
  • If you define a physical location type and assign it to a location, but do not define a location type - vehicle type group relationship, any location of this type cannot hold any vehicles.

Recommendation

We recommend that you define a location type - vehicle type group relationship for each physical location type that you define and assign to locations.

Activities

Defining Physical Location Types for a Yard

  1. Enter the yard number.
  2. Enter a two-digit identifier for the location type.
  3. Choose the class of location for which you are defining the physical type.
  4. Enter text descriptions for the location type.

Defining Location Type - Vehicle Type Group Relationships

  1. Select a line corresponding to the physical location type with which you want to define a relationship to one or more vehicle type groups.
  2. From the left structure tree, double-click Define Location Types.
  3. Choose New Entries.
  4. In the Combn field, enter a two-digit identifier to represent each combination of vehicle type groups.
  5. For each combination, enter the vehicle type groups, as well as their quantities, that can simultaneously be at the location.

Example

You define the following vehicle type groups:

  • 0001: Small trucks
  • 0002: Medium trucks
  • 0003: Big trucks

At any one time, the physical location type WIDE can hold three small trucks, one small truck and one medium truck, or one big truck. You define the location type - vehicle type group relationship as follows :

Combn    Veh.Ty.Grp    Qty

01    0001    3

02    0001    1

02    0002    1

03    0003    1
