Use

In this IMG activity, you can do the following:

  • Define relationships between the following types of location groups:
    • Door location groups and storage type location groups
    • Door location groups and staging area location groups
    • Door location groups and parking space location groups
  • Determine whether a location group relationship applies to the scheduling/location determination of inbound vehicles, outbound vehicles or both inbound and outbound vehicles
  • Define more than one relationship for the same door location group and determine the sequence in which the system will search for a relationship on which to base its automatic scheduling

Door Location Group - Storage Type Location Group Relationship

You can define a relationship between a door location group and a storage type location group if you want the scheduling of a door for a vehicle to be influenced by related storage types in the warehouse. This may be desired, for example, if you only want to schedule doors that are within close proximity to the related storage types.

When the system automatically schedules a door for a vehicle, it will:

  • Ascertain the dominant material in the vehicle, being the material contained in the largest number of pallets
  • Ascertain the relevant storage type for the material, being the first storage type in the material's storage type sequence
  • Schedule a door from the door group related to the relevant storage type group

Door Location Group - Staging Area Location Group Relationship

You can define a relationship between a door location group and a staging area location group if you want to restrict the pool of possible staging areas to be scheduled with a door.

When the system automatically schedules a door for a vehicle, it will schedule only a staging area from:

  • The staging areas assigned to the door in IMG activities Define Doors and Define Staging Areas
  • The staging areas in the location group related to the door location group, if staging areas are not specifically assigned to the door

Otherwise, the system will schedule any staging area with the door.

Door Location Group - Parking Space Location Group Relationship

You can define a relationship between a door location group and a parking space location group if you want to restrict the pool of possible parking spaces that the system can recommend as the destination of a movement activity for a vehicle, in a case where the vehicle has a scheduled location, but the planned start time has not yet arrived.

When the system determines a destination location for the movement activity, it will:

  • Ascertain the door scheduled for the vehicle
  • Determine as the destination one of the least crowded parking spaces from the parking space location group related to the relevant door location group
  • Determine as the destination one of the least crowded parking spaces defined for the yard, if no door location group - parking space location group relationship has been defined.

Requirements

You have defined yard location groups in IMG activity Define Yard Location Groups.

Standard settings

Activities

For each location group relationship that you define:

  1. Enter the yard number.
  2. In the Dr.Loc.Gp field, enter the name of a door location group.
  3. In the Rel.Loc.Gp field, enter the name of a storage type, staging area or parking space location group.
  4. If you want the relationship to apply to the scheduling/destination determination of inbound vehicles, select Inbound.
  5. If you want the relationship to apply to the scheduling/destination determination of outbound vehicles, select Outbound.
  6. If you have defined more than one relationship for the same door location group, enter a number (starting from 1) in the Sequence field to determine the sequence in which the system will search for a relationship on which to base its automatic scheduling/destination determination. Do not include different relationship types (e.g door group - storage type group relationships and door group - staging area group relationships) within the same sequence. The system will always base its scheduling/location determination on the first relationship in the sequence unless scheduling/location determination is not possible, at which point the system will go to the next relationship in the sequence.
  7. If you have defined only one relationship for a door location group, enter a 1 in the Sequence field.
