You only need to perform the following step if you want to enter distribution rules for periodic settlement to CO receivers or assets under construction which relate to cost elements or certain origin assignments:
- For periodic settlement to CO receivers, you can use a blanket settlement rule to generally settle certain cost elements to specific CO receivers. For example, you could use this method to make sure that all investment measures that use a blanket settlement rule settle their overhead costs to certain cost centers.
- For settlement to assets under construction, you can distribute capital investment measures according to cost element to various assets under construction (see also AuC class per origin assignment):
In this IMG activity, you define the source structures used when settling and costing joint products.
A source structure contains several source assignments, each of which contains the individual cost elements or cost element intervals to be settled using the same distribution rules.
In the settlement rule for the sender you can define one distribution rule, in which you specify the distribution and receivers for the costs for each source assignment.
Example
The object in question has incurred both direct and overhead costs. The direct costs are to be divided 50% each between a fixed asset and a cost center, while the overhead is to be settled in full to an administration cost center in CO.
To do this, you would create a source structure with two source assignments:
- Direct cost elements
- Overhead cost elements
Activities
Check whether you need to use source structures in your settlement procedures. If you are settling to cost elements, you do not need a source structure. Otherwise, create a source structure as follows:
- Choose New entries, then enter a key and an explanatory text.
- Choose assignments.
- Choose source data and if requested, set the controlling area.
- Choose New entries and store individual cost elements, cost element intervals or cost element groups.
Save your entries.
