Use
In this IMG activity you define the possible reserve types that you want to use for setting up reserves.
Make the following settings for a reserve type:
- Key
- Name
- Reserving category for the reserve type
- Standard unit for reserving
The setting only makes sense if you selected the Standard (with Unit) or Per Diem Hospital Benefit value in the Reserving Category field. This standard unit is displayed as the default value in the system.
- Specify whether the reserve type refers to losses or expenses (claim settlement expenses).
A reserve type can only refer to losses, or only to expenses, not both.
- State whether this is an expectation reserve
- State whether the reserve type is claim-dependent or cross-claim
- For each reserve type define the interface to the general ledger.
For each reserve type you can define a credit and a debit account for each company code
In IMG activity Configure Internal Claim Types you assign the reserve types defined here to a coverage type at subclaim level. Here you also define the permitted reserving methods for the reserve type. When you open a subclaim in claims processing, the system automatically applies the reserve type that you specified for the relevant internal claim type and subclaim type.
You can find an overview of all customizing settings required for setting up reserves in the Application Help for the Claims Management system (path: Claims Management -> Claim -> Cross-Line of Business Concepts in the Claims Processing -> Setting of Reserves -> Setting of Reserves in the Claim -> Customizing Settings for Reserves.
In claims processing you can set a reserve for each subclaim and reserve type. When displaying the reserve, the system automatically deducts payments already made from the reserve that was set originally. The system can uniquely determine the appropriate reserve type from the benefit type of the payment item. This means that you can only define the reserve type in as much detail as the benefit type. However, you can also define a single reserve type that is valid for all benefit types. A payment can also have payment items that have different benefit types and different reserve types.
