Use
In this IMG activity you define reserve group categories and assign the possible indicatives to the reserve group categories.
Make the following settings for a reserve group category:
- Key of the reserve group category
- Name of the reserve group category
- At the level of the reserve group category you determine which currency is used for setting up reserves
- Define the possible indicatives for each reserve group category
- Specify the sequence of the indicative fields
In IMG activity Assign Versions, Reserve Group Cluster, Reserve Group, and Procedures to Reserve Group Categories, assign the reserve group categories defined here to versions, reserve group clusters, and reserve groups.
Example
Below is an example for configuration of IBNR reserves in the area of hospitals:
Reserve group category
All available indicatives are grouped together in a reserve group category.
Reserve group category Indicative
Hospital case Hospital no.
Department
Gender
Age
Reserve groups
The total scope of indicatives defined in the reserve group categories is grouped into meaningful combinations.
You are not yet able to create reserves at this level.
Reserve group Indicatives of this reserve group Values of indicative
Reserve group A Hospital University Hospital Newtown
Department Internal medicine
Diagnosis Diabetes
Gender Male
Age 35-40
Reserve group B Hospital University Hospital Newtown
Department Internal medicine
Diagnosis Diabetes
Gender Male
Age 45-50
Legend:
Reserve group A covers all insured males aged 35 to 40 with diabetes.
Reserve group B covers all insured males aged 45 to 50 with diabetes.
Reserve group cluster
Several reserve groups are grouped together in a reserve group cluster.
A reserve group cluster is the lowest level at which you can create reserves. At this level you also create a sequence and assign an IBNR driver.
In the following example the two reserve groups A and B are grouped together in reserve group cluster AB. In other words, they form a reserve group cluster for all insured males aged 35 to 40 and 45-50 with diabetes. This means that males aged 40-45 are excluded from this reserve creation.
Reserve group cluster Reserve groups
Reserve group cluster AB Reserve group A with all males aged 35-40
Reserve group B with all males aged 45-50
Version of reserve group cluster
You now want to create reserves for reserve group cluster AB for the individual quarters of the year 2002. To do so you can create versions of the reserve group cluster.
Version Reserve group cluster
Q1 2002 Reserve group cluster AB
Q2 2002 Reserve group cluster AB
Q3 2002 Reserve group cluster AB
Q4 2002 Reserve group cluster AB
