Use

In this IMG activity you define diagnosis catalogs. You can also define the related diagnosis thesaurus.

Note: The procedure for defining diagnosis catalogs and diagnosis thesauruses is identical. In the text below, only diagnosis catalogs are mentioned specifically, but the same also applies for diagnosis thesauruses.

Diagnosis catalogs are standardized internationally in World Health Organization (WHO) ICD catalogs. ICD stands for "International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems". ICD catalogs contain all possible diagnosis groups and diagnoses.

You need diagnosis catalogs to enable you to select the diagnoses required to process a case from these catalogs.

Make the following settings for a diagnosis catalog/thesaurus:

Theoretically you can manually enter diagnosis groups and diagnoses here. This does not make any sense, because the volume of data is usually very large. For this reason, you should only enhance, change, or delete diagnosis groups and diagnoses here. There is another IMG activity in which you actually enter diagnosis groups and diagnoses for a diagnosis catalog, namely Import Diagnosis Groups and Diagnoses. You must perform both IMG activities for diagnosis catalogs and diagnoses to take effect.

To make diagnosis catalogs available in the Claims Management system, in IMG activity Configure Internal Claim Types assign diagnosis catalogs to an internal claim type at claim header level. Specify which diagnosis catalog the system displays as the default diagnosis catalog when users enter or process diagnoses.

The procedure is normally as follows:

  1. You define the diagnosis catalog in the Maintain Diagnosis Catalog,Diagnosis Groups,Diagnoses and Addl Attributes IMG activity.
  2. You import diagnosis groups and diagnoses in the Import Diagnosis Groups and Diagnoses IMG activity.
  3. You edit diagnosis groups and diagnoses in the Maintain Diagnosis Catalog,Diagnosis Groups,Diagnoses and Addl Attributes IMG activity.
  4. You define the permitted diagnosis catalog in the Configure Internal Claim Types IMG activity.

You can define diagnosis-specific additional attributes for each diagnosis. The prerequisite is that you have performed IMG activity Define Diagnosis-Specific Additional Attributes.

  • If you enter a blank in the claim type field, the additional attribute is valid for all internal claim types.
  • If you enter an internal claim type in the claim type field, the additional attribute is only valid for this particular internal claim type. In this case, you must have already performed IMG activity Configure Internal Claim Types.

Requirements

Standard settings

SAP does not supply any complete ICD catalogs, just extracts from ICD catalogs as sample customizing. When you import complete ICD catalogs, sample customizing is overwritten.

Activities

Ensure that you always have the currently valid ICD catalog and the current diagnosis thesaurus.
