Use
In this IMG activity you can create new internal claim types or change existing ones.
The internal claim type is derived from the combination of policy product and incident type. For this reason, the internal claim types that you wish to create depend largely on the policy products and incident types.
Change Existing Internal Claim Type:
1. On the Configure Internal Claim Types initial screen select the relevant internal claim type.
2. Choose the selection button at the relevant level (claim header, subclaim, damaged objects, claim item group) that you want to configure.
3. Choose Change.
4. Make the required settings on the screens that follow.
Create New Internal Claim Type:
1. On the Configure Internal Claim Types initial screen choose @0Y@ with the quick info text Create.
2. On the following Create Claim Type dialog screen enter the following data:
- Key of internal claim type
- Name of the internal claim type
- Date from which the version of the internal claim type is valid
3. Press Enter. The system displays the newly created internal claim type on the Configure Internal Claim Types screen in the list of internal claim types.
4. The following steps are identical to the procedure for Change Existing Internal Claim Types.
An internal claim type can have more than one status. The system creates a new or changed internal claim type as a suspense entry. You must activate this before you can use it.
Every time an internal claim type is created, a new generation and thus a new version is produced. When you change internal claim types, the following rules apply:
- When you change an internal claim type, a new version is always created.
- When you change the internal claim type with a contract renewal (in other words, you select the Immediate Change with Contract Renewal or Delayed Change with Contract Renewal button), a new generation is also created.

Structure of Internal Claim Types
An internal claim type has the following levels:
Overview of an internal claim type
You can display internal claim types in a graphical overview. For more information, see the Application Help for the Claims Management system under Claim -> Administration of Claims Management System -> Internal Claim Type -> Display of Internal Claim Types in an Overview.
Requirements
You have performed all the activities in the IMG that you require for configuration of the internal claim type.
Standard settings
Activities
To make an internal claim type available to the Claims Management system:
- In IMG activity Configure Internal Claim Types, create an internal claim type or change an existing internal claim type.
- Perform IMG activity
- Assign Internal Claim Type to Combination of Policy Product + Incident Type.
- Define the screen sequences for the internal claim type:
- For expert mode - in IMG activity Internal Claim Type: Define Claim Handler Group and Screen Sequences for Expert Mode
- For other processing modes - in IMG activity Internal Claim Type: Define Claim Handler Group and Screen Sequences for All Other Processing Modes.
- Activate the internal claim type in IMG activity Configure Internal Claim Types.
- On the Configure Internal Claim Types initial screen select the relevant internal claim type.
- Choose @3C@ with the quick info text Activate
Note: Consider that after every transport of customizing to a downstream system all objects of time-dependent customizing (policy products, internal claim types, benefit type trees) have status T (for Transport). You must therefore explicitly activate each policy product, each internal claim type, and each benefit type tree in the downstream system.
