In this activity, you assign the geo-coding programs to countries. You can assign several geo-coding programs to one country.

The sequence for calling up the geo-coding programs is defined through a value set in the column Sequence. The geo-coding program with the smallest value is called up first.

If you have assigned several geo-coding programs to a country, you can define through the indicator Excl (Exclusive) that, if the system successfully determines the longitude and latitude degrees, it will not search further in other geo-coding programs.

Example

A geo-coding program determines the longitude and latitude degrees for Germany at the postal-code level. For large cities, such as Frankfurt, the entry of data at postal code level can mean the system will not provide the exact data you want. For this reason, you can use a further geo-coding program that works for the city of Frankfurt at street level. This way the coordinates can be determined precisely.

If the value for the sequence at postal-code level is 0 and at street level is 1 in the geo-coding program, the system determines the longitude and latitude degrees at postal-code level first. If you have the reverse sequence, the system determines the longitude and latitude degrees at street level first, provided the address you entered is in Frankfurt, Germany.

If the value for the sequence in the geo-coding program is 0 at street level and it also has the indicator Excl (exclusive), the program ends if the search is successful. A search at postal-code level is then no longer necessary.
