In order to be able to determine the longitude and latitude degrees using an address, the SAP System passes on all the address fields to the geo-coding program. However, if there are changes in address, it is not always necessary to call up the geo-coding program since many fields are not relevant for the determination of longitude and latitude degrees.
In this workstep you create the address fields that are relevant for geo-coding. Whenever you determine or update geographical data, the geo-coding program only checks the address fields defined here.
If there are no address fields entered in this activity for a geo-coding program (for example, SAP0), geo-coding takes place each time there is a change in address, even if you have only changed fields that are not relevant.
Example
The relevant address fields in the supplied SAP0 geo-coding program are country and region. Other providers may also support postal code, city, street, house number.
