This step enables you to make your settings for the ESS logon page, ESS start page, service layout, and additional ESS functions.
Activities
Determine the following for the logon page:
Whether enterprise-wide logon help, such as a hotline number, is displayed as part of the password reminder function.
Whether your employees can use the password reminder function.
Determine the following for the start page by selecting the appropriate field:
Whether the ESS start page supplied by SAP is used, or whether a standard, enterprise-wide start page is used instead, and whether user-specific start pages are allowed.
To set up a standard, enterprise-wide start page, enter the appropriate URL.
If you want to enable users to set up their own start pages, enter the URL of a standard, initial start page that is displayed if an employee does not set up his or her own start page. Each employee can set up his or her start page by choosing My Preferences.
Whether the system displays the date and day.
Whether the system displays messages.
You can also determine that the system displays messages for the specified user only.
Whether the system displays a birthday greeting when the employee logs on on his or her birthday.
Enter a language and text for the greeting. You can formulate the text so that the ESS user's name and form of address are displayed. You can use the following placeholders:
&FNAME& for the first name
&LNAME& for the last name
&ENAME& for editing the name
&ATEXT& for the form of address
The names are taken from the appropriate infotype in Personnel Administration.
If you want blank characters to be displayed before or after a placeholder, enter an underscore '_' in the required position.
Example: "Congratulations_&ATEXT&_&FNAME&_ &LNAME&!" could lead to the following text being displayed: "Contratulations Ms Mary Moore!".
Whether the system displays a greeting that is set up by the employee.
Whether the system displays the number of unread mails and work items.
(Work items are only displayed if the inbox is active; see Determine Services).
Choose one of the options for the customer area on the right side of the browser window by selecting the appropriate field:
You can determine that this area cannot be used at all.
You can specify a picture or graphic to be displayed for the whole enterprise.
To do this, enter the appropriate URL.
You can allow employee-specific settings to be made for this area.
Enter the URL of a default picture. Each employee can set up his or her own picture by choosing My Preferences from the start page or navigation menu. If an employee does not set up his or her own picture, the default picture is displayed.
Select the appropriate field to determine
Whether the navigation menu (Java Applet) is used in ESS.
This is usually necessary if enterprise-wide or user-specific start pages are used.
Whether direct dialing is possible in ESS.
Whether employee photos are displayed in Who's Who.
Each employee can set up his or her own photo by choosing My Photo from the start page or navigation menu.
