In this section, you make the settings to design the screens and make online entry of master data suit your own requirements that are different from the way supplied by SAP. You make these settings using the Business Data Toolset. You make these settings without changing the coding.

You can do the following using the BDT tool:

  • Field Modification
  • Screen Layout
  • GUI Functions
  • General Control

The settings you make using the Business Data Toolset are summarized in the application menu path Collateral Management System -> Environment-> BDT Development. The BDT offers the following options:

  • Enhancement potential:
    You can enhance tables, screen layout, screen sequence, program logic (event technique, field checks, data retention), and the GUI menus. Enhancing is possible at several levels. You can develop the same application object in your main office and in your branches.
  • Configuring potential:
    You can set both the screen sequence as well as the layout of the individual screens. This means you can tailor the process flow of maintenance to suit your own requirements.
  • Combining Potential
    It is possible to combine various entities (asset, collateral agreement,receivable) depending on business criteria. Example: For a Real Estate scenario, you could combine the asset and agreement screens to give a unified overview of the object and its encumbrances. Besides the advantage of getting a complete picture of the entity, the data maintenance is now reduced to a single transaction.
