In this work step, you can define variables and allocate them to a set. Furthermore, you change, display and delete already existing variables.

You can use variables in sets instead of an individual value or another set.

A variable always refers to a particular field. You must therefore specify the name of this field when creating a variable.

A distinction is made between the following types of variables:

  • Value variables

A value variable stands for a single value.

  • Formula variables

A formula variable consists of a formula with which you can determine the value of a variable.

You can only use formula variables in basic sets.

  • Set variables

A set variable stands for a set.

You can only use set variables in multi sets.

When you maintain variables, you can make the following specifications:

  • Proposed value

You can specify a reference variable.

You then copy from this variable when you want to create a new variable.

  • Description

You must enter a text in the input template for the general data which describes the meaning or the contents of the variables.

This text is used for the definition of sets and in the Report Writer.

  • Parameter ID

If you select this field in the input template for the general data, the parameter ID that belongs to the specified field name is set as SET/GET parameter.

If you do not select this field, the default value of the reference variable is used.

Actions

  1. Enter a variable name.
  2. Enter the table and the name of the field you are referring to.

    Note

If you do not enter a table or a field, you must specify a reference variable.

  3. Select a variable type.
  4. Press ENTER.

You branch to the input template for the general data on the variable.

  5. Determine the general data.
  6. Save the variable.

Note for transport

Variables are transferred into the productive system by using a special Customizing function designed for them. How to proceed is described in the Description under the Implementation Guides "Special Ledger".

Additional Information

Further notes on how to Maintain variables are in the Implementation Guides under "Special Ledger".
