In this step, you can define sets. Furthermore, you can change, display and delete already existing sets.

A set is a flexible structure for representing hierarchies and quantities.

Sets are required in planning and when working with the Report Writer.

A distinction is made between the following types of sets:

  • Basic set

    A basic set contains the values for a certain field.

    When you allocate these values, you can either:

    • specify fixed values and/or fixed intervals
      • Fixed values are strictly allocated to the corresponding set. For that reason, you cannot change fixed values.
    • specify variable values and/or intervals
      • You can change variable values.
      If you refer to a reference set, for example, that contains a variable, a dialog box is displayed in which you can enter the variable value.
      In the set, you always have to include a "&" at the beginning when you specify a variable.
  • Single set

    In a single set, you can group together basic sets and thus create hierarchy levels.

  • Multi set

    This allows you to group several basic sets together to form one set.

    You can select several fields at the same time.

  • Data set

    A data set contains key figures.

You can use the following input templates to define sets:

  • Header
  • Basic entries
  • Additional entries

Note

You cannot create multi sets from multi sets.

Activities

  1. Enter the set ID.
  2. Specify the name of the table for this set.

    Note

    The set name is only unique in conjunction with the table name.

  3. Select a set type.

    Note

    For basic sets and single sets, you also need to specify the name of the table field to which the set refers.

  4. Press ENTER or choose Continue to create a basic set or single set.

    You branch to the input template for the header data.

  5. Enter a description for the set.
  6. Enter the authorization group.
  7. Determine the basic entries.
  8. Maintain the set variable, if necessary.
  9. Determine additional entries, if necessary.
  10. Save the set.

Sets are transferred into the productive system my means of a Customizing function that is specially designed for this purpose. Refer to Description in the "Special Purpose Ledger" Implementation Guide.
