In this activity you define reference types for items in the warranty claim.

Use

The values that you define here appear in the F4 help for the field Reference Type in transaction WTY (Item Detail).

In the warranty claim you can link an item to an object or a document using the reference type and reference number.

Requirements

Standard settings

The satndard system contains reference type RC (recall). This reference type has a controlling effect: if you choose RC in this field in the warranty claim and enter the external recall number in the Reference Number field, the claim is automatically checked against the recall data when the appropriate actions are called (ctions A095, A096). The system checks whether the object of the appropriate claim is contained in the recall and whether the reference date lies within the recall validity period. The items in the recall are automatically filled in. For reporting purposes, you can store system data that informs you for which technical objects warranty claims in the form of recalls have been entered in the system (report RWTYRCL_OBJ_RCL).

You can also define other reference types in the customer namespace in Customizing, for example the reference type invoice document for external services. The reference number is then the number of the invoice document.

Reference types in the customer namespace are basically purely informative in character; they have no controlling effect. If you want to use the reference types to control the process, you have to program an action for this or use BAdI WTY_CREATE_COPY for programming.
