- Which characteristics (cost center, activity type, cost element) planning values can be entered for
- Which key figures (such as planned costs in the currency of the controlling area, planned consumption) can be entered

In the cost object category, the time base of the cost object ID must be defined as periodic.
Standard settings
The standard system contains planning layouts for planning costs on cost object IDs. There is a separate function in the Implementation Guide under "Controlling General" for importing standard planning layouts.
