The SAP R/3 System uses movement types to process movements in Inventory Management (for example, goods receipt for a purchase order or goods issue to a cost center). When the system recognizes a movement as being relevant for Warehouse Management, it assigns this movement to a WM movement type by means of a table.
The movement type for the Warehouse Management System provides the information required for stock removals or picking:
- Interim storage bin
- Fixed bin coordinate
- Control indicator for processing, confirming, and printing transfer orders
- Confirmation info
At the movement type level, you define whether the confirmation requirement is to be proposed during transfer order creation. As soon as a parameter demands the confirmation requirement in a TO item, this item must be confirmed explicitly in the application.
Standard settings
All relevant movement types are preset in the SAP Standard System.
Recommendation
SAP recommends that you keep movement type "601".
Activities
- Before you create the movement type for a new warehouse number
- Configure the settings for print control
- Delete the print code
- Maintain the print code when you set the print control
- For each warehouse number, create the movement type by copying it.
- Decide whether you want to verify the transfer orders created in the SAP system through the confirmation procedure.
- Make company-specific modifications in the detailed screen where required.
- Include the possible processes for verification/confirmation in your organizational procedures. You can use the bar code for confirming the transfer orders.
Further Hints
For more information on the topic "Confirmation", refer to the IMG activity Define difference indicators.
