In this step, you define the maximum MRP period for materials that are to be planned on a regular basis.
Regular planning means that these materials are planned according to a regular interval - the maximum MRP period - even if no changes have been made that are relevant to the planning run.
This is especially important if materials are planned using the long-term lot size. You can use the maximum MRP period to avoid a situation where order proposals that were created with the long-term lot size move into the short-term area as no changes have been made that are relevant to the planning run.
