In this step, you determine how the system is to react if errors occur in the planning run.
To do this, you make the following settings:
- planning run
- maximum number of order proposals per date
- If you selected a fixed or maximum lot size, the number of order proposals to be created in a planning run is determined in the lot-size calculation.
- If the number of order proposals created in the planning run exceeds the upper limit defined here, the planning run is terminated for the material in question and the system displays an exception message.
- substitute MRP controller for material requirements planning
- If errors occur during the planning run, you find the MRP lists for materials for which no MRP controller could be determined from the MRP controller group specified here.
- delete planning file entry
If the planning run must be terminated for a material, the entry in the planning file usually remains. This makes sure that the material will be included again in the subsequent planning run. In the collective display of the MRP list, the MRP controller can select all materials that were terminated in order to deal with any problems.
In this step, you can define that for certain terminations, the system is to delete the entry in the planning file if this situation occurs. If the planning file entry is deleted, the material will then only be re-included in the planning run if it is changed in any way relevant to planning.
Default settings
In the standard SAP R/3 System, no planning file entries are set for the following error messages:
- material does not exist
- error reading the forecast parameters
- error reading the forecast values
Actions
- Specify the maximum number of order proposals for your plants.
- Select a substitute MRP controller per plant.
- Mark the error messages that cause the material to be deleted from the planning file.
