In this step, you define the ranking for the objects funds center, commitment item, and fund in the generic search in an FM area.
You must define the ranking for the generic search if you have:
- Defined specific tolerances for availability control generically, and
- You have defined carryforward rules for the budget carryforward to the following year
Example
In the relevant step, you have defined the following specific tolerances:
- For all funds, funds center FC1 and commitment item CI1 may exceed their budget by up to $100.
- For fund F1, the budget may not be exceeded at all for any funds center or commitment item CI1.

If you want to make postings to any combination of F1, FC1, and CI1, you must enter a ranking for the generic search.
- If you have set ranking fund, funds center, commitment item for the FM area, the budget must not be exceeded at all.
- If you have set ranking funds center, fund, commitment item, the budget may be exceeded by $100.
In accordance with the ranking you chose, the system checks whether explicit specifications have been entered for the object.

Unless you specify otherwise, the system uses ranking funds center, commitment item, fund.

Decide which funds center/commitment item/fund ranking is best for your enterprise structure, and make the appropriate entries.
