In this step, you can define specific availability control tolerances for an FM area and particular Budget structure elements. This allows you to override the tolerances set in the step "Define tolerances for availability control" for particular budget structure elements.

To do this, enter a budget structure element, a budget profile and a year, from which the tolerance limits should apply, for an FM area. You must have assigned the desired tolerance limits to this budget profile for the FM area entered.

You can use the * character to mask all or part of the fund, funds center, commitment item and functional area. This means that you can make entries which apply to, for example, all funds centers, or all those which begin with F (F*).
For the generic search, you can enter a ranking for the objects (fund, funds center, commitment item) in the step "Define ranking for generic search". You cannot enter a priority for the functional area, since it is always assigned the lowest priority in the ranking order of the objects.

When specifying the budget profile, you must note the following:

  • Specifying a budget profile when you define your specific tolerances does not automatically mean that all the settings for this profile for budgeting and availability control come into effect in your FM area.
Only the tolerance limits which you have specified for this budget profile take effect for availability control.
Other settings do not take effect, such as Budget/Release or View which you can set for a budget profile in step "Set up budget profiles".
  • If you are working with funds and availability control checks against overall values, as you specified in the budget profile, you must enter 0 as the "Year" (the year from which the settings apply) because there are no annual values.
  • Entering a lot of tolerances can have an adverse effect on performance, so make sure you only enter them for the budget structure elements where they are really necessary.

Standard settings

  • If you do not define any specific tolerances, the system conducts its checks based on the tolerances you defined in the step "Define tolerances for availability control".

Activities

  1. Create a new budget profile or choose an existing one.
  2. Define the required tolerance limits for availability control for this budget profile. For further information, see unit "Define tolerances for availability control".
  3. Specify this budget profile and its tolerance limits for a budget structure element, starting from a particular year.
