Requirements

The Session Manager is a new user interface for controlling the SAP system from a frontend. The user has both the complete SAP standard menu, a reduced company menu as well as a user menu on the frontend. The SAP standard menu provides the normal complete view of the system. The company menu contains only those parts of the SAP standard menu that the customer uses.

These menus are displayed in one of the frontends (PC Session Manager or the menu tree displayed in the SAP GUI after logon).

Activities

Definition of user menus

  • To define user menus, first define roles in transaction PFCG. Users can then be assigned to these roles. Menu paths (for example, from the SAP menu) are assigned to the roles.
  • You can reorganize and rename the role menus in any way you wish.

Hiding menus and special settings

  • You can deactivate menus for the entire enterprise. You can also activate or deactivate menus for individual users.
    • The default setting displays both menus, if they exist.
    • If you want to change this setting, read the section Hiding menus.
  • These steps are only necessary if you want to change the standard configuration delivered by SAP.

To use the PC Session Manager you need a Microsoft Windows 95 or Microsoft Windows NT 3.51 frontend. Menu trees can be displayed in the SAP GUI on any platform.
