Use
You can use this IMG activity to define case types for Case Management. The case type is the central property of a case, and groups various Customizing settings together (profile for attribute, function, status, text, and terminology). When you create a case type, you first have to specify a case type.
Requirements
You have already created the relevant profiles for the functions, attributes, status, and so on, or copied them from the master client (000) into the current client.
Standard settings
SAP delivers the case type DEMO (SAP demo case type) as reference Customizing.
Activities
Define Case Type
Assign a value to the following parameters:
- Case type
Technical name of the case type
- Description of the case type
Mnemonic name for the case type
- Process
Process to which you want to assign the case type. Use the input help to select one of the offered processes.
You use the process to control BAdIs. The BAdIs are used to determine which checks or which industry-specific routines to run. Note: The Case Management BAdIs all begin with the abbreviation "SCMG".
- ID of Case Record Model
Document ID of the model that the case record is based on. To determine the document ID, you can use the input help for this field.
Note: You also have to enter the model in the registry in the element type for the case records as a value for the connection parameter MODEL_ID.
- RMS ID
ID of the current Records Management System (RMS).
- Element type ID (case)
Technical name of the element type that forms the basis of the cases that are created for this case type.
- Element type ID (record)
Technical name of the element type that forms the basis of the case record.
Note: For this element type, you have to enter the case records model that you entered in the column Element Type ID (Case) as a valid model in the registry (connection parameter MODEL-ID).
- Element type ID (notes)
Technical name of the element type that forms the basis of the case notes.
- Internal number range
Number of a number range that you created in the IMG activity Create Number Range Intervals. The system assigns a number within this number range to the case. This number is displayed in the case as the value for the attribute External Key.
- Early Number
Indicator that determines when the number is assigned.
If you set this indicator, the number is assigned directly when the case is created and before it is saved.
If you do not set this indicator, the number is assigned when the case is saved.
- Attribute profile
Technical name of an attribute profile that you have already created.
- Function profile
Technical name of a function profile that you have already created.
- Status profile
Technical name of a status profile that you have already created.
- Text profile notes
Technical name of a text profile that you have already created.
- Process route
Indicator that determines whether the process route is used for dispatching the case.
If you set this indicator, the attribute Processor does not have any meaning. The subsequent processor of the case is determined by the pre-defined process route.
If you do not set the indicator, the user sets the subsequent processor of the case by using an entry for the attribute Processor.
- Terminology profile
Technical name of a terminology profile that you previously created.
Note:
- The case type is a field (CASETYPE) in the authorization object for Case Management (S_SCMG_CAS). The case types that you define in this IMG activity can be entered in the authorization object for the field CASETYPE.
- There are two set/get parameters for the case:
- SCMG_CTYPE: Default case type that is entered when you create a case (has to be valid in the current area and in the current RMS). The value that you assign is the technical name of a case type.
- SCMG_DSUB : Default case component that is displayed when a case is called for the first time. The value that you assign is a number (that corresponds to the sequence of the case components) or the FCODE of the case component. If the parameter was not set, the notes are displayed.
Parameters for copying, splitting and merging cases
Optional: In the second hierarchy level, you can decide for each case type which case components are to be transferred whenever you copy a case, split a case in two or merge two cases into one. The Copy, Split and Merge functions can only be executed using the Case API (methods on IF_SCMG_CASE_API). Select a case type and double-click Copy, Merge, Split. A list is displayed of the subcomponents that have been assigned to the case type using the function profile. Set the flags for each subcomponent.
