Use
In this IMG activity, you can make settings for the Audit Trail functions:
You can switch the logging of data changes on and off for individual table fields or for entire tables. If logging is switched on, each change made to data in the relevant tables or table fields is recorded and stored in another table. The changed data can then be analyzed using the evaluation S_AUT10 according to freely definable criteria.
Requirements
You must have authorization to change the logging. For this, you need the relevant authorization objects. To change the logging of individual table fields, the corresponding tables must be connected to the change document creation process.
Standard settings
Changes to data elements and tables in the Data Dictionary are cross-client. The setting with regard to which data of an application is logged can only be made on a cross-client basis. You can specify whether data is to be logged at all on a client-dependent basis for the following cases:
- The setting of the tables determines the table logging. Whether table logs are recorded in a client depends on the setting of the system profile parameter rec/client.
- The setting of the data elements influences change document creation. Whether change documents are created depends in general on the client- dependent Customizing of the application in question. Not every application is linked to the change document creation process.
Regarding changes in the logging status, it has to be noted that the setting up of the logging of change documents is client-dependent.
If you are logging a very large number of tables and table fields, system performance is liable to be impaired.
Activities
Carry out this IMG activity and switch the logging on or off for the desired tables or table fields.
