Use

In this IMG activity, you specify which columns are available to you for process parameters in Trial Management and which characteristics can be used for the fields in the columns.

Requirements

In Classification, you have created the classes and characteristics that you require for process parameters. Note the following here:

  • Classes for process parameters in Recipe Management must belong to the class type 102. Characteristics for process parameters in Recipe Management must be assigned to classes of this class type.
  • Classes for process parameters in Trial Management must belong to the class type 101. Characteristics for process parameters in Trial Management must be assigned to classes of this class type.
  • When you create a process parameter for an object (recipe, process, trial, and so on), the system checks whether the class and the characteristics of the corresponding process parameter type are valid from the valid-from date for the object. You should therefore create classes and characteristics for process parameters with a start of validity that lies far enough back in the past.

You have specified process parameter types and assigned a class to each process parameter type.

Activities

  1. Define all columns that you need for the data for the various process parameters.
  2. If necessary, assign the role Actual Value to a column. For more information, see the field help for the Role field.
  3. Under Fields for Process Parameters, specify for each column the characteristics that the system is to use for the column fields.

Note the following:

  • To be able to enter data for a process parameter in a column field, one of the characteristics that you assigned to the column here must be assigned to the class that you have assigned to the process parameter type of the process parameter (see Example).
  • When you enter a value for a process parameter, the system automatically adds the unit of measurement from the characteristic that you defined in this IMG activity for the column of the value. The system displays this unit in the field for the value. You must, however, still define a characteristic for the unit in this IMG activity because the system stores the unit internally in this characteristic so that it is available for recipe transformation, for example. The characteristic for the unit must have the data type Character Format and sufficient characters so that the system can display the required units.
  • Intervals are not supported in the actual values. We therefore recommend that you do not allow interval values in the characteristics for the actual values.
  • The characteristics for the target value, the minimum and maximum quantity in Recipe Management, and for the actual value in Trial Management must have the same unit of measurement.

Example

You want to use the process parameters Oven Temperature and Boiler Temperature in Trial Management, and enter actual values in them. You set the process parameters up as follows:

  1. In Classification, you create the class Temperature with the characteristic Actual Value.
  2. Under Specify Process Parameter Types, you create the process parameter Temperature. You assign the Temperature class to this process parameter type.
  3. In this IMG activity, you create a column for the actual value and assign the column the corresponding characteristic in the Temperature class.
  4. In Recipe Management, you create the process parameters Oven Temperature and Boiler Temperature and assign the process parameter type Temperature to both.

You can then select these created process parameters in the trial and enter values in them in the fields of the Actual Value column. For data entry in the fields, the conditions apply that you defined for the characteristic in characteristic management, for example, the format you set there.
