Use
In this IMG activity, you define validity area categories. Depending on these categories, you can then define the required validity areas in the IMG activity Define Validity Areas.
In the validity area category, you enter the following default values for this IMG activity:
- You specify which table and table field input help uses to determine the allowed validity areas of a category.
- You specify the check function that checks whether the defined validity areas are allowed.
The settings for authorization relevance are not taken into account in the scope of application.
Example
You can, for example, define a validity area category for plants to which you assign the following data for the input help:
Field Value Meaning
Table T001W Standard Customizing table for plants
Table field WERKS Plant
Requirements
- If you want to use your own tables for input help, you must create these tables in the ABAP Dictionary and activate them.
- If you want to use your own check functions to check the values that a user enters, you must create a function module in the Function Builder and activate it.
Standard settings
The standard system contains a validity area category for regions. It accesses the corresponding table in standard Customizing for input help.
To check the values that a user enters, the standard system contains the function module C14Z_VAL_VALID_FOR_TABLEFIELD. It checks the input values according to the table field that you have assigned to the validity area category.
Activities
Check which validity area categories you need in your enterprise and define them.
Further notes
Validity area categories are also used in the Environment, Health and Safety (EH&S) component (see Set Up EH&S Customizing). Make sure you consult with those persons responsible for EH&S Customizing.
