Use
You can assign a production version for use in your production system to recipes of the type master recipe and all copies of this recipe type.
If you use general recipes and site recipes, you can generate production versions using the master recipe transformation function, or assign existing production versions.
If you use distributed systems in your enterprise, your master recipes and the corresponding production versions may be stored in different systems. When you display a production version in a recipe or assign a production version to a recipe, the system must use a Remote Function Call (RFC) to access the production version. Recipe Management needs the logical address (RFC destination) of the target system for this.
In this IMG activity, you define a function module that uses your specific ALE distribution model to determine the system in which a production version is stored. You then assign the function module to your recipe types.
Standard settings
In the standard system, the function module PROD_VERS_DESTINATION determines the RFC destination. This function module is called in the following cases:
- If you have not assigned your own function module to the recipe type in Customizing
- If you have assigned a function module to the recipe type in Customizing, but it does not return an RFC destination
If the standard function is also unable to determine an RFC destination, the system searches for the production version in the current system.
Activities
- Check whether the standard module PROD_VERS_DESTINATION is suitable for your distribution model.
- If required, define your own function module for determining the RFC destination as follows.
- Copy the standard module PROD_VERS_DESTINATION to your namespace.
- Tailor the copied function module according to your requirements. You must not change the function module interface.
- Activate the function module.
- In the IMG activity Recipe Settings, assign your function module to the recipe types.
