Use

As of SAP E-Recruiting 600 SP08, it is possible to use Web Dynpro ABAP as the interface technology for scenarios involving internal and external candidates.

You can use Web Dynpro ABAP to separate front-end and backend for these scenarios, in other words to run the front-end and backend on different systems. By separating front-end and backend, you can place the front-end outside of your company's firewall and the data in the backend system remains protected behind the firewall.

Advantages of Web Dynpro

  • Latest SAP UI Technology
  • Since the systems (front-end and backend) are separated, no sensitive data is located outside of your company's firewall.
  • You can use the RECFA LOCFI switch to specify that when candidates are entering their desired work location, they can select in dropdown list boxes only countries, regions, and cities that were stored for the branches in SAP E-Recruiting. In this way, candidates can select only values for which there are actually branches. You make this setting in the IMG activity Specify System Parameters for Web Dynpro.
  • You can use the IMG activity BAdI: Specify Application Configuration for Application Wizards to call different configurations of the application wizard, depending on the relevant job posting.
  • You can use the IMG activity Store URLs for Language-Dependent Data Privacy Statements to store data privacy statements for each of the possible logon languages.

Possible System Constellations

The following system constellations are possible:

  • Front-end and backend are on the same server, the scenarios of the internal and external candidate run on one server. SAP E-Recruiting uses Web Dynpro ABAP as the interface technology.
  • Front-end and backend are separated and run on different servers. External and internal candidates access the application via the front-end system. SAP E-Recruiting uses Web Dynpro ABAP as the interface technology.
  • Front-end and backend are separated and run on different servers. External candidates access the application via the front-end system and internal candidates access the application via the backend system. SAP E-Recruiting uses Web Dynpro ABAP as the interface technology.

Depending on whether you want to install SAP E-Recruiting or convert the possible scenarios from BSP technology to Web Dynpro ABAP, you must perform different IMG activities.

New Installation with Web Dynpro ABAP

On the front-end server, perform the IMG activities that are stored under the Front-End Candidate IMG node.

Note
If you want to use Web Dynpro ABAP and run front-end and backend on one system, you must perform these IMG activities on the backend server.

On the backend server, perform the IMG activities that are stored under the Backend Candidate IMG node.

Replace BSP Technology with Web Dynpro ABAP

On the front-end server, perform the IMG activities that are stored under the Front-End Candidate IMG node.

Note
If you want to use Web Dynpro ABAP and run front-end and backend on one system, you must perform these IMG activities on the backend server.

On the backend server, perform the IMG activities that are stored under the Backend Candidate IMG node.

Note that you must copy the users from the backend system to the front-end system. The user names must be identical in both systems.

The relevant password is the one that is set in the front-end system. If you want to convert the possible SAP E-Recruiting scenarios from BSP technology to Web Dynpro ABAP with separated systems, you must generate new passwords for all candidates that you copy into the new front-end system and send these passwords to the candidates.

Flexibilization Possibilities

On the front-end server, perform the IMG activity BAdI: Specify Application Configuration for Application Wizards (IMG node: Flexibilization -> Frontend) if you want to call different configurations of the application wizard depending on the relevant job posting.

On the backend server, perform the IMG activities that are stored under the IMG node Flexibilization -> Backend to customize the start pages and roadmaps delivered in the standard system.
